Parker hears laughing behind him as he does so.
"Calm down, I was just fucking with ya!" Says the fat man, now fully awake and standing.
"Name's Ulrich, and you must be Rayne. Charmed."

"What the....you..." Parker stammered looking at the man who moments ago looked to be on death's door. "I thought you died right there in front of me. Ooh yes, that's me, nice to meet you Ulrich."

Ulrich gives a heart laugh,
"That's a little trick I've learned. You can pretty much just shut down your body with the right mindset. Not very practical unless you wanna freak people the fuck out." he said, pleased with himself.
"My insomnia's a thing of the past, I'll tell you that much. Now, you're a Clairvoyant, correct? Well, as you might of guess, we ain't got one of those anymore, so you're stuck learning with me it looks like." Ulrich walked over and took a seat. "Don't worry; I know all of Eric's old teaching style, so this shouldn't be too hard."
"So... first thing's first. Let's do the card test."
Ulrich pulls out a deck of cards and looks through it, occasionally stopping to pull out a card. He then lays 12 face down on the desk.
"Alright Parker; Pick me up an Ace. There are only 3 on the table." He says smiling,
"If you can pick me up the Ace of Spades, I'll give you a little treat."

Parker cleared his mind then focused on the cards on the table. He first sought to find an ace then the ace of spades.

For some reason, it's as though his mind is working in a more... organized fashion now.
Rayne feels like he has the power to do this one, particular thing easily, all he needs to do is get in the mindset.

Parker attempts to use his ability to look back in time and see the cards Ulrich lays down looking for the ace of spades or at the least an ace.

Parker goes back and watches as... Ulrich puts down the cards again. Ulrich himself did it randomly, so how would this help?

Parker didn't utter a word focusing on the cards. He wasn't sure if it was just a hunch or he was being guided by his new powers. He reached out touching one the cards then drew it away from the pack then flipped it over.

The card is the Ace of Diamonds.
"Good...but not great." Ulrich says with a smirk.
"Best two outta 3 Rayne? Unless ya think you'll pop a vessel or something..." he asked with a heart laugh.

"Damnit" He said "I thought...er...I had a feeling that was the one. The Ace of Spades I mean."
"I'm good for another try or two." Parker studied the cards again then when he had a feeling he grabbed the card and flipped it.

This time he Doesn't even get an Ace; he picks the 5 of Hearts.
"It's alright, it takes time pal. You got one more shot though." Ulrich said, shuffling.

And low and behold, this time 'it WAS the Ace of Spades.
"Well, that's more like it! Don't know if that was skill or luck, but whatever." Ulrich said with a smile.
"As a rewards, I'll teach ya that little trick from earlier. Now, it should be easy enough! See, all you gotta do is..."

The training went on like this for several weeks.
Afterwards, Parker became the head of tower security a few months later. His intuition and foresight allowed him to root out the truth in whatever situation arose.
He did his job with flying colors and became one of Sinclair's most trusted subordinates.
Two years have passed since Project Orion, and not even Parker knows what the future holds...
