Parker Rayne sits in a pristine white room, having just stripped down to a hospital gown.
He is awaiting the doctor, who will soon be coming to tell him that it is time.
Time to become more then he could have ever dreamed, to become the next step up in evolution.
To become more.
He is nervous, butterflies dogfighting around his innards.

Finally, there is a knock on the door, and the doctor enters,
"Parker? We're ready for you..." He says, and then after a pause,
"Are you sure about this? Your aptitude scores were the highest of this group's, but it's still really dangerous. If not immediatley, the effects down the road are... Mr. Sinclair has told me to tell you that this won't be forced upon you.

Parker nodded to the doctor trying to appear confident when told they were ready for him. He was about to stand then waited as the doctor spoke again. He doubted the latter, Sinclair would not let him walk away from this "experiment". It didn't matter anyway, he was promised a great many things. How could any man shy away from a chance at greatness. To posses powers that few could ever attain. He would be a legend!
"I am certain Doctor though I appreciate your concern." He said confidently, emboldened by the thought of his future. "One must take risks in order to gain the rewards. I am ready." He said then waited on the doctor.

The doctor nodded.
"Very well then, follow me."
Parker is lead down the hallway to the elevator. The Tower is in immaculate condition, especially in comparison to the rest of the wasteland.
They go up several floors, arriving on Floor 47.
Rayne is then lead into a dark room, with a single chair in the middle, and what he expects to be a two way mirror on the left wall. In the upper right corner is a camera, that follows his every move. To the left is a cart, with various instruments on it.
"If you would be so kind as to sit down and try to relax Mr. Rayne, we will begin shortly." the doctor says, motioning to the chair.

His earlier confidence began to falter as he took in the room and its contents. His gaze lingered on the instruments causing him to swallow noticeably. Parker glanced at the camera then looked away. He took a deep breath to steel himself then walked to the only chair in the room.
Parker tried to keep his gait steady as he walked to the chair. He sat, closed his eyes then silently chanted to himself. All would be well, just relax. In moments he would possess powers beyond compare. What if it all went awry? his thoughts began to drift but he quickly forced it away. All would be well...sweat began to trickle down his forehead.

The doctor injects a full 2 syringes of Med-Ex into Parker's arm, and then straps both of his arms to the chair, with hard leather straps.
The doc then walks back over to the cart,
"I trust you're aware of what all this entails Mr. Rayne."

Parker tensed a bit as the straps tightened on his arms. He would not look at the Doctor or the cart just staring blankly in an effort to keep his remaining composure. Parker knew enough, probably more than he wished to know. He simply nodded in reponse.

"Alright then, let's get on with it." He said, picking up a piece of head gear that looked like a sort of high tech Crown that fit around the base of the head and could be tightened via screws on the sides.
This was the Nullifier.
It was placed on Parker and tightened to where it was just barely not cutting off circulation.
Afterwards, the doctor retrieved a rubber mouth piece,
"Open wide and bite down on this in the most comfortable way."

Parker felt the pressure of the Nullifier. He wanted to reach for it though with his arms bound he could barely budge. He opened his mouth and bit down on the rubber mouth piece, his heart began to race.

"You'll want to calm down as much as possible...It's supposed to help," he said, readying a large syringe, filled with a dark, greenish blue liquid with a slight glow.
He walked around behind Parker and put the needle in a ready position; At the top of the spine where it met the skull, at an upward thrusting angle so as to inject directly into the Madula Oblongata.
"Are you ready for this?" He asked off handily.

"Do it!" He grunted around the mouth piece. Parker was trying to be calm but it was not easy. He knew what was next and tried to relax his body while steeling his mind. The anticipation was building like a tidal wave.

The initial thrust is incredibly painful, having to make it's way past nerves and bone and cartilage, but after that couple of seconds, it isn't so bad.
Even when he feels the FEV enter his brainstem, it isn't bad, it's more like a warmth. Sort of nice really.
Half a second later, the warmth turns into a fire that Burns hotter then a dying sun, setting Parker's mind, body, and very soul aflame with pain he never dreamed existed outside of the blackest pits of hell itself.
Every cells feels as though it's being torn apart and stitched back together.
For a few moments, death seems a blessing compared to this.
Then, after what seems like an eternity, the pain is gone.
In its place comes a tidal wave of emotion, deeper and more profound then anything he had ever experienced before,
He felt.......
(RAGE) An pure, primal fury rose up from deep within him. He cursed, he tried to break free. He felt the need to destroy something, anything. Anyone. It was as though a fire had been lit in his chest, and he needed to use that fire to burn the fucking world.
(CLAUSTROPHOBIA/ANXIETY) He felt the world closing in on him, eyes watching him from everywhere. It bothered him, disturbed him. He wanted them to go away, make them go away. He wanted to push them away from him, to be alone.
(DESPERATION) He broke down into tears, deeply afraid of having to live through that again. He tried to reach out and ask for help, beg for it. He tried to reach out to someone, anyone. He wanted help, even if he had to force them to do so.
(CALM) A sense of understanding came over, a calm. He knew this suffering served a purpose, even if he couldn't explain how he knew. He felt as though, for the first time, that there was a grand pattern and plan to the tapestry of the universe. And he felt as though it would make itself clear to him in time.
(Choose one, and choose wisely.)

Then, exhausted, he slumped into a deep sleep as doctors rushed into the room to help and check on him.
----------------------------------------------------- He awoke later, much, much later, in a hospital bed, hooked to a collection of IVs and tubes. He had no idea how long he had been here, nut he knew it was a long time.
He tried to move, but his body was weak, his mind began to flutter into activity.
And then that pain, that unimaginable, indescribable pain, returned in a flash, this time far more vivid then ever before.
It had returned to finish the job, but he refused to let it.
He drew on his inner power, his source of strength, his greatest attribute.
He drew his strength from......
(ENDURANCE) The pain was ungodly, but he knew he could take it, withstand it. Pain is just weakness leaving the body, and his body was already strong.
(CHARISMA) His willpower and strength of character refused to let him die. He was confident he could beat this, KNEW he could beat this, so he just laughed in the face of death. Today would not be his last.
(INTELLIGENCE) Concentrating with all his mind, he blocked out the pain as much as possible. He took his mind to a far away place, out of the reach of death and pain and weakness of the body. The mind is the master of who we are, and if it yells loud enough, the body must obey. And his mind yelled at the pain to stop.
